Welcome to my FAQs page
This page is designed to help answer many of the burning questions you, the
reader, has after visiting my web pages. It is also the most un-updated page
of them all, and was not linked in the the main site for 4 months. However,
here it is resurrected in (virtually) its original form.
I hope these Q and As do help, but if you still have unresolved issues (and
due to time constraints, please note, only those relating to my site, rather
than those about your childhood, love life or politics, can be answered) please
contact me by clicking on this link:

Why create a web site?
The site is primarily a vehicle for my shameless self-promotion. As well
as containing my CV and other information, it is a showcase for my "skills".
Many visitors to the site will hopefully be friends and family, who bring
with them the unique advantage (?) of having met me, and will gain infinitely
more than anyone who has, let's be honest, the misfortune to stumble upon
my site. I am constantly expanding the site to include ever more photos, so
please come back and see more! In addition, the site will provide an archive
for future generations. Truly a worthy cause...
Where are the photos in your great gallery from?
The photos are all from my portfolio. This consists of pictures taken mainly
in the USA, but also Canada, France, and of course the United Kingdom. They
are mostly taken with a Minolta X-500 (which is now broken, and now been replaced
with an identical model, with a ... motorised winder!!), using either a 50mm,
30-70mm, or 100-200mm lens, on black and white film. I've also developed most
of the prints myself. They date from my various travels (thanks to Amtrak
for the transport!). The photos are generally scans, and some are digitally
altered using Adobe Photoshop. The only seriously
changed photo is the Saviour on the Blood, where
I've taken out overhead cables.
Can I get hold of any of the photos?
Yes! Please feel free to contact me if you wish to buy any photos. The site
is not really designed as a vehicle to sell anything, but I would be happy
to provide copies in either 8x10 or 3x5 (inches) glossy format. The cost will
be basically the cost of paper/chemicals and postage and packing, and a small
amount for my time. Even though I've not been clever and disabled the right
or left mouse buttons, leaving people free to steal my photos, I would appreciate
it if you don't. Obviously I can tell if this is happening often, and have
no wish to follow cookie trails.
I cannot download the MS Word copy of your CV!!
Unless you have the correct plug-ins, this can, alas, only be done using
Internet Explorer. If you are using Netscape (perhaps 6 comes loaded)
or any other, try either printing the screen, or just taking the text
copy.
Where are you currently based?
Considering my address is available for everyone on my CV, I guess this
can't do too much harm. Bristol. In the south-west of England (a little
country beneath Scotland, to the right of Ireland and Wales, and to the
left of France and Belgium). It is very multicultural, and a rather nice
place to live. For more information, try the local paper The
Bristol Evening Post

Do you think that the current parliamentary voting system in the UK
is democratic?
Sorry, whilst this is one of the most frequently asked questions (or
should be) I cannot answer it here. Try the Electoral
Reform Society or Make
Votes Count.
What do you think the futures holds for Russia?
Look, I told you...
